I am naturally awkward so I tend to avoid conflict. When something is bothering me I usually keep it to myself until it eventually festers into a full-blown rant to whoever will listen. Is this normal? How do I know when it's a good time to talk to my friends about something?
It's normal to need some time to calm down before talking about something that's bothering you. However, there are a few things to consider before you start ranting to your friends. Like, ask yourself, "Is it something that can wait?" If it's a minor issue, it might be better to let it go.
"Are you ready to talk about it? "If you're still feeling really upset, it might be best to wait until you've had some time to calm down.
"Is this something you really need to talk about? "If it's something that's been bugging you for a while and you can't seem to let it go, then it might be worth talking to your friends about it.
If you're not sure whether or not you should talk to your friends about something, the best thing to do is ask them. They'll be able to help you decide if it's something that's worth discussing.
