HomeFriends Relationship QuestionsWhat is a good way to handle a friend who gaslights you?

I am an introvert, and my friend Tricia is an extrovert. We are really good friends, but lately, I've noticed that she has been gaslighting me. She will say things like, "You're too sensitive," or "You're overreacting," even when I know that I'm not. It's really starting to bother me and make me feel like I can't trust my own judgment.

It sounds like your friend might be unintentionally gaslighting you. Gaslighting can be really harmful to a relationship, so it's important to nip it in the bud. I think you could start by expressing how her comments make you feel. You could say something like, "I don't appreciate being told that I'm overreacting. It makes me feel like I can't trust my own judgment." If she's a good friend, she'll be receptive to your feedback and try to change her behavior.
