HomeSelf Relationship QuestionsHow to stop being harsh on myself?
Rila Thomas Staff asked 2 months ago

I'm really hard on myself. I constantly compare myself to other people and I always feel like I'm falling short. I beat myself up over my mistakes and I have a hard time letting things go. This has led to me feeling really stressed and anxious, and it's something that I really want to change.

Sometimes, it is quite normal for us to feel bad about ourselves when we make a mistake. However, it is not healthy to dwell on our mistakes or to constantly compare ourselves to others. Instead, we should try to be more forgiving of ourselves and to focus on our positive qualities.

One way to stop being so harsh on yourself is to practice self-compassion. This means treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would show to a friend. Whenever you make a mistake, instead of beating yourself up, try to give yourself a little bit of grace.

It's also important to focus on your positive qualities and to celebrate your accomplishments. Instead of dwelling on your mistakes, remember all of the things that you're proud of.
