HomeProfessional Relationship QuestionsHow to ask for a higher salary to my new employer?
Roy Murray asked 1 month ago

I was a little underpaid in my previous job and I don't want to make the same mistake again. How can I broach the topic of salary with my new employer without sounding entitled or ungrateful?

A higher salary is a good thing to ask for, but you should wait until you have an offer on the table before broaching the topic. Once you have an offer, you can start negotiating by asking for a higher salary. If they are resistant, you can try explaining your experience and why you deserve a higher salary. If they still refuse, you can always counter their offer with a lower salary that you would be willing to accept. The most important thing is that you don't settle for less than what you deserve.
