HomeRomantic Relationship QuestionsDoes a romantic relationship mean you are exclusive with each other?

My friends and I were discussing this the other day. One of them said that she and her boyfriend are in an exclusive relationship, while another said that she and her boyfriend are just dating. I wasn't sure what the difference was. Can you explain it to me?

The term "exclusive relationship" is usually used to mean that you are only dating each other and are not seeing anyone else. This can be a formal agreement between you and your partner, or it can be something that you both just agree on. Exclusive relationships are usually monogamous, which means that you are only sleeping with each other and no one else.
